Hopefully someone can provide some guidance and/or suggestions.

I would like to add a 2tb SSD to my desktop (specs are listed below). The “C” drive is becoming quite full due to my Flight-sim programs (P3d) with additional add-ons. I would like to transfer all of Flight-sim with add-ons to the new SSD drive.

So…………I am assuming in order for these programs to work, I would have to install WIN 10 on new drive? I am also assuming since some of these add-ons and the Flight-sim itself is logged in the “C” drive registry.

So would a transfer of programs work or would I have to uninstall and reinstall all of the aforementioned on the new SSD. How exactly is a transfer from one drive to the other accomplished.

Any and all help suggestions etc. is very much appreciated.

Currently have a SATA drive at 931GB.

Solution
Yes!
Not sure about what SSD to purchase at this time. Many factors to consider here (mounting, ease of setup etc.). Is it really worth the expense or hassle or is a 2TB HDD. On the fence.
A 1TB SATA III SSD will be a drop in replacement.

Crucial MX500, for instance.
We can guide you through a direct clone from old HDD to new SSD.
You'll just need a program like Acronis True Image...it's easy to use it to copy everything including Windows to the new disk.

Once the copy is complete you'll just need to change the boot order so the motherboard boots to the new drive first. Once the move to the SSD is completed you can wipe the old drive and use it for storage or even better is to use it for the Windows page file to save wear on the SSD.
