Question SATA to USB cable, HDD is shown but no files in the HDD are shown

Hi,
My wife's computer crashed so I took her HDD (seagate baracuda 1 TB) and I plugged it to a SATA to USB cable.

I plugged into my own laptop using my USB port and it shows as drive F: but when I open the drive it says "this folder is empty" as if there were no files on the hard drive.

When I check the properties of the hard drive it shows that there are 2 gigabytes of used space.

So the data is alive, the drive is OK but I cannot see my wife's files.


Can someone please help me with this issue? Thank you very much in advance.

What specific drive, and what specific USB 'cable'?

Its an internal HDD for laptops, its Seagate, Baracuda 1TB.
The cable is usb 3.0 to 2.5 SATA HDD?SSD cable w/UAPS (9 pin, super speed)

You could try to view the drive using DMDE:

Doubleclick the NTFS volume in the Partitions window and expand the Root. Do you see your file/folder structure? If so, then your problem could be a permissions/ownership issue.

No . its only showing me RECYCLE.BIN and system volume information
This are the only 2 folders shown

My wife plugged the charger in and the laptop smoked and turned off....
