My setup:

3.2ghz Prescott
Abit IC7 Max3
Nvidia Geforce FX 5700 LE
1 x Western Digital WD740GD Raptor 74GB SATA 10,000rpm
1 x Maxtor DiamondMax 10 300gb
1 X IBM GXP 180 GB
1 X IBM GXP 120 GB
Enermax 460 w power supply.

Ok have just bought my raptor to use as the c drive today. My problem is that i can't seem to get all the 4 drives to work at once. only 1 sata and 2 ide or 2 sata and no ide.
I am not trying to run any sort of raid array.
When i try and boot with all 4 detected by bios i just get a blank screen. Anyone help me out I am pretty sure it is a bios setting that i am missing??.

Update. I unplugged my maxtor drive and i can't get my computer to restart with the raptor and the 2 eide drives. The only way I can get it to boot up is to put into "combined mode" under the sata settings in bios. This does not detect the eide drives at all.
Anyone got any ideas?.

what i ve noticed all forums but CPU/Graphics/others suck. Nobody answers anything, i mean not much as the 3 above. also the 3 above have max users. i post game related stuff in graphics rather than games just bcos they work like hand and glove.

We shld have just these
CPU
Graphics
Mobos/mem
Peripheral
Others - socializing
Soft

Exactly.

You should get both SATA and both IDE channels if your not your motherboard perhaps cant see the size of 1 of the drive partitions most likly one of the IDE drives.

You will need to read all the available updates for your BIOS at the manufacurers website to see if they address this issue.

You could also check Google out lots of guys have good ideas or in fact find a solution and post it.

yeah I agree.

What annoyed me more than anything is the fact he didn't apologise. He just assumed it would be ok to post in an irrelavent forum, which it is not.

Ok thanks for your help ( the guys that actually tried to help) I have finally sorted it out by clearing my cmos.
I have no idea why this fixed it but it has and its running great now.
Ned I think you need to actually get a life, and remember what these forums are for.... to help people!!.
I only posted in this forum because it is the best and has the most viewers.
So stop getting your post count up by flaming people if you don't know the answer, oh and don't be such an anal loser.

Wait a min, you cleared you CMOS and it was fixed? That would mean you would go back to the orginal BIOS that came with the board...so then it works now with old BIOS? That doesn't make much sense

No. I didn't quite follow the instructions for the bios update. The last step was to clear the cmos which i didn't do immediately, did that the next day.
I don't know if it was the bios update or not. Maybe if i had just cleared the cmos before it may have worked. Clearing the cmos has nothing to do with the current bios version you are using only the current bios settings that you have... it sets them all back to the defaults.

Firstly, this forum doesn't get the most views. The Other section does. So as for that point, your wrong.

oh and don't be such an anal loser.

Not only does that 'insult' make no sense, it also shows how immature you are.
