save my songs

i use an external hard drive too keep my music on for my karaoke job in my local pub last night hard drive wouldnt work and says it needs to be formatted im told this will delete my files is there any way to save them or get hard drive working again without losing the info thank you

How old is your hard drive?

Before you do anything drastic, change your USB cable out and also change the USB port that you plug it into.

If you can, buy another external hard drive just in case you are able to save all of your songs.
