Have a LAN with several Win98 2nd Ed PCs, one WinXT SP1 and just added a
WinXT SP2 PC. From the WinXT SP2 PC, when do File, SaveAs from Excel or Word
to a shared folder on any of the Win98 PC's get message: The folder
'\\Computer\Shared\Doc1.doc' isn't accessible. The folder may be located on
an unavailable volume or protected with a password.'. File, Save and File,
Open, File, Save sequences all work. Also, File, SaveAs to a shared folder
on the other WinXT PC works.

Have tried all combinations of Windows Firewall settings. Including adding
excel.exe and winword.exe to the exceptions.

Have enabled NetBios over TCP/IP on the WinXT SP2 PC.

The problem is also strange in that occassionally SaveAs does work! But, if
try again right after a success, it will fail.

I am havingthe same problem and was just wondering if you had found the
solution? I can save from 98SE to 98SE, but not XP Pro to 98SE and the
other kicker is that this problem didn't exist when I first got the XP
machine.
