The i7 is an option though.Could even look at the non "K" i7 8700 and use MCE to let all cores run 4.2ghz.

Ryzen 2 is about to launch in march afaik,so maybe good to wait for that,hard to say what that has as improvements for gaming...

I didn't really lower much the costs, instead got a much better system for a bit less.
With a brand new CoffeeLake CPU(which has +2 cores and +4 more threads), a GTX 1080, which is the appropriate GPU for 1440p 144Hz gaming and a proper CPU cooler for that future overclock
