Saving windows xp operating system to a usb

could someone please tell me how to save the windows xp operating system disk that came with my computer to a usb. The cd/dvd does not work on my computer and i need to do a complete reinstall of windows xp

I don't know how to create an image of my operating system and i don't know what pendrive is
