Probably just and typo, I was at the Cleveland Microcenter and seen them for $299

I now think it has to do with how they apply 'sale' prices. The web site probably acquires standard pricing from one data base but alter it with a 'sale' price acquired from another data base. The 'sale' price just hadn't been applied yet. In this case the 'sale' price happens to be AMD's MSRP.

Why they consider the original price $449 is beyond me...unless they use 'what they market will bear' based on scalper prices from eBay instead of MSRP. That part is marketing and, IMO, misleading at that.
