says I don't have office

when I try to open a Word doc I get a message that

or you might have a older version, you can download reader from microsoft web site.

by work doc do you mean docx? chances are if you run an older version of office it may not support some of the new document formats. i run office 2000 and ran across this. download the microsoft office 2007 compatibility pack from the microsoft web site,install it and you are good to go.you will get updates for office 2007 after doing this.just install them.
