Hello,

I've been tasked with building a new server to replace a VM running Exchange 2010 on Windows Server 2008 x64. I personally have tried to get them to purchase a fully built server that is under warranty, but they will not take my recommendation and would like me to build one for under $2k. They had a previous IT who built two servers and now they think it is the way to go everytime. I'll stop my rant though and ask what you think about my components list:

Nothing wrong there.
I would only sugest that you get Western Digital RE (Raid Edition) disks instead of Samsuing Spinpoint

You realise that building a server with no support package means that EVERY TIME it blinks they will ...

B, Expect YOU to fix it for free...

MAKE them buy a package...

Going from VM to physical is a step backwards surely, unless whoever built the VM infrastructure was completely clueless.

Thanks, I realize this, but this was not my question. I was more looking at the hardware from a compatibility standpoint.
