I do that, too, but even better, try to increase the demand
for those kind of buildings, and they will get replaced by
new builder/owners.

Build a firestation and that won't be a problem. As for the abandonment
issue, it's a clear warning sign that demand is far out of whack with supply.
Address that problem and you won't be spending good money bulldozing
buildings.
