Scan frequency error message

Want to connect ASUS K601 laptop to 42" plasma TV to use TV as monitor for streaming movies. Computer has one VGA output connector. TV has RGB1 DVI input and RGB2 analog RGB input (D-sub 15 pin). When I connect VGA cable from computer to RGB2 on TV I get an error message on TV screen saying "incorrect scan frequency" with flashing bars. No picture. Can anyone help fix this?

What resolution and refresh rate is set for the TV in the laptop? You neeed to set it to the TV's default resolution (your product info will have that) and set refresh to 60.
