Hi,

I have recently purchased a G35i system form www.scan.co.uk, the components are:

Case - Corsair Carbide Series 200R with USB3

Motherboard - Asus Z87-K, Intel Z87 Chipset

CPU - Intel I5 4670k haswell overclocked to 4.2ghz

Memory - Corsair vengence 1600 mhz DDR3

Graphics Cards - Evga 2GB GTX 770 SC to 1111mhz

Solid State Drives - San Disk 128GB SSD

System Drive - 2x 2TB western Digital

Optical Drive - samsung 24x dvd reader & writer

PSU - 550w Corsair vs PSU

I properly set it up and tested some games today but after about 10 minutes on euro truck simulator 2 ( i know only game i had to hand 🙁 ) on ultra the pc restarted and said that asus power surge protection had kicked in.

Is my PSU a good enough wattage to handle the components or have scan supplied me with a PSU not capable of handling my components

The power supply is boarder line. It really depends on what type of Corsair power supply it is. It sounds like it is the entry level model which would not be enough power for your system under a full load for a long period of time. I would also check that you are not plugged into a UPS (battery backup) or plugged into an outlet that already has a high power drain from something else like a floor heater or printer.

look at the power supply inside the case or look at the model info and read the units 12v line wattage and amps ratting.
Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 42 Amps. for your gpu.
the cpu is 84w the gpu max wattage is 250w.
the power supply is rated at 42amps.
myself i look to have them swap it out with a 650w to be safe.

There will definitely be a charge. Companies that build computers will generally have a good processor and graphics card and go cheap on the other components to make it look like you are getting a good deal. Hopefully they are willing to work with you on the price.
