I am using Windows XP Home with SP1 and SP2, a 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 with 1 GB of
Ram.
The problem involves a Coolscan 9000 film scanner with Firewire connection.
Specifically, the
scanner will not install.
After installing the PCI card and Nikon Scan, turning the scanner on, or
starting the computer after
uinstalling the scanner from Device Manager, the following message appears:
" Cannot Install This Hardware
There was a problem installing this hardware.
Nikon LS-9000 ED IEEE 1394 SBP2 Device
An error occurred during the installation of this device
The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this
device "
The drivers for the firewire card, 1394bus.sys, arp1394.sys, nic1394.sys,
and ohci1394.sys are all
dated 8/3/04, while enum1394.sys is dated 8/17/01. Device Manager indicates
the card is working
properly. Just in case, I relocated the card to a different slot but the
scanner install problem
persists.
I am assuming the problem has to do with something that is out of whack with
the operating system.
No where on any scanning mail list or group have I encountered anyone else
having this problem. If
there was something wrong with scanner drivers, there would be plenty of
discussion about the
problem. I have no idea what the registry should look like for a properly
installed scanner, but,
perhaps, the problem lies there.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
Chris Luneski
