Scanner Probblem

I have a HP 5610v officejet all-in-one printer, but can't get scanner to work.
when I go to set up on printer...go to use scan features...I get the following message:
"NO CONNECTION...REFER TO DEVICE DOCUMENTATION TO TROUBLESHOOT."
The printer is plugged in and usb connected to computer.

Is the scanner showing up as a device in Control Panel on the PC?

Did you run the full software setup for it with no issues? Got the scanner connected to the main printer part? Many of the multi-functions have a scanner cable that needs to be connected to the main part of the pinter.
