Scanner won't initialize, says it isn't there

I have read every forum and no one seems to find any solution, except maybe SP1 update caused it.

The scanner won't initialize, it can't be found even though it was installed, new drivers were installed, everything was done right. The USB cord seems ok, and reading comments, changing it doesn't do anything. I have used every USB port.

This is driving me batty. How can I get this to work.? One day it just disappeared and since even on newer computer, same problem. This is on my XP computer. It is HP ScanJet 6200C

Describe in ABSOLUTE DETAIL how you are attempting to use the scanner, what program you are trying to scan into, what you click where and when and the resulting error messages if any, etc. I'll be back in 24 hours to see your reply.
