On my Asus desktop (running windows 7), I just installed MS VS community, which required a restart. On restart, I noticed the startup stopped at the black screen with blinking underscore. After waiting a while (seems to be endless), I restarted the computer to see "Scanning for devices...No Devices!" message, which leads to endless blinking underscore.
I went into BIOS settings after googling around...I don't see any IDE configuration settings in the advanced tab.I tried booting with different SATA settings (including IDE), all with the same results.I've also tried disabling the VIA storage controller, which default disables the storage OPROM.
What the heck is going on?? This is my work computer and has never had this issue before...thanks in advance and please provide some reference material/detailed explanation so I can get a little IT lesson along with the fix, that way I can diagnose this problem myself in the future.
