Hello..does anyone know of scanning software that is COMPATIBLE with WIN XP Pro and which will operate with an HP 1100Axi printer/copier/scanner so that I can scan documents into Adobe Photoshop? The scanning software that comes with the HP 1100Axi is not compatible with WIN XP Pro and crashes Adobe Photoshop. Thank you.

Can you scan from the HP Director? If you can scan from there it's more likely the problems in Adobe and not the scan driver.

I use exactly the same software on my PSC 2210 in Windows XP Pro and it works perfectly.

When you say crashes, what eactly happens, is their an error or what.

I dont know what HP Director is. How do I acquire that software? I am unable to keep the original scanning software installed in XP without Adobe not launching. When I remove the original HP scanning software then Adobe works perfectly. HP "offered" to sell me the XP compatible scanning software for $10 on CD. No way.
Thank you.

There is no way to scan with an older HP multi in WinXP Pro until you get a new set of drivers. My D135 won't scan either, at least not anyting but a tiff which is a HUGE file. If HP is offering you new drivers, go their website first to make sure you don't already have them. If you don't, just pay the $10...that or else $200+ for a new machine that is made for XP.

Hey before Id give HP any of my money cuz they dont support my $400+ 3-in-1 with XP drivers, Id go out and buy a new EPSON or CANON flatbed for $30 which are the prices here for new scanners. Ive had 3 HP products in the last 5 years and all have had a mechanical failure of some sort-I think HP hardware is crap.

Actually I'd say the problem is Photoshop. The HP software works and is compatible with Windows XP. BTW, If you want a new software version why not just download it for free.

You say that if you installed the software then photoshop didn't work so you took off the driver to make photoshop work. I'd be guessing that photoshop also uses the microsoft installer (MSI) program. The problem seems to me to be that when the version of MSI is updated to a newer version by the HP software, Photoshop stops working. Did you contact Adobe at all?

Since when does Adobe crashing have anything to do with compatibility with Windows XP? I actually have several HP printers and they are all running on Windows XP Pro. I have a PSC 2170 at home and had a PSC 2210 at the office. Now I've been upgraded to a PSC 2510 connected to my notebook via wireless while its connected to my desktop USB. Zero problems. The problem is either Adobe or some other driver on your system, perhaps an older printer or scanner driver. Some of these can cause problems. I know Lexmark installs a few tasks that kill the print spooler when you try to install a different printer (Microsoft has a KB document about how to shut down the Lexmark tasks). Have you ever had a Lexmark printer (or Dell for that matter since they are the same, and Dell PCs often come preinstalled with these drivers BTW).

You don't use Adobe Font Manager do you? I know this used to cause problems. It uses Adobes custom fonts for your desk top and can cause other programs to crash and burn.
