This recently just happened on our 4year old 24" Samsung 245BW. The issue comes and goes but as of late its lasted longer & longer.

After doing a quick Google search, the vast majority of the same issue was almost instantly concluded towards a faulty video card. My hd6850 is barley 2 months old and all the drivers are up to date so I was kind of skeptical. So I swapped monitors from my wife's computer (19" Samsung) I didn't get any of the grainy red pixels what so ever with my wife's monitor connected to my rig. The only other test would be to hook up the monitor the other pc`s around the house.

Long story short, It is 100% a monitor (245BW) issue. Everything the monitor got hooked up to eventuality gave me the same red pixel results.

Has the monitor simply just outlived it life? Is it even worth repairing?

Monitors generally become obsolete within about 2-3 years. If you paid for an extended warranty that's still good, you could try sending it back. If you're skilled at electronics repair and on a really tight budget, you could try repairing it, but I can't provide instructions for that. Otherwise, you're better off buying a new monitor, and if you want advice on what monitor to buy, filling in a copy of the template would be a good start:

I had a feeling my options were slim.
I guess it is time to upgrade. This time though i'll be sure to get some type of warranty, especially if I go the ips route :)

thanks
