OK, I messed with the scenery.cfg folder in accordance with some install
instructions for a scenery I downloaded. It's working, but my question is:
If I delete the scenery.cfg folder, will it be rebuilt the next time I start
FS?

No it won't, FS or the system do not keep track of what you are adding
to it, you could get the original from the CD (either simple or full
install) but you would have to manually correct the paths and add all
the scenery you installed since the beginning... And backup-the file
before modifying it in the future ;-)

Two useful scenery tools I wouldn't be without...

SCM2004 by Hans Hartmann is a great little scenery manager - I find it
much better than using FS2004's internal manager to add new scenery and move
it (or groups of them in one go) to the correct level - find it in the Avsim
library.

And FlightSim Manager by Rana Hossain is pretty clever at finding and fixing
scenery errors.

Thanks, Katy. I was almost set to delete the file when a small voice told me
to post the question to the group. FS would run but I would get an error
message when it loaded the scenery. I could have ignore it, and did last
night, but decided to fix it. So I went to my bride's computer where she has
a virgin copy of FS2004 loaded and checked her scenery.cfg file against
mine. Found the problem and everything works as it should. And I WILL backup
that file in the future!!!
