Hey, I have a fairly new 144hz monitor that I got only a year ago. I saved up for it on minimum wage, it cost me around 320 dollars and it was one of the only good IPS 1440p ultrawide panels I liked that didn't have an asterisk attached.

A couple of days ago I was gearing up for THE FINALS, sitting in the lobby waiting for my friend to join, and all of a sudden the top of the screen started flickering before my whole monitor shut off. I thought it was just the game glitching, but then I couldn't see my desktop, then I realized I couldn't even see the monitor's menu. I began troubleshooting immediately and trying different power outlets and came to the conclusion that the power strip inside my desk was defective. I stress tested the monitor for around an hour or two running XScreensaver and it didn't happen again that night.

Later it began flickering again, I tried switching out the entire power strip I was using (the desk power was connected through it). By this point I was sure the problem was fixed so I hopped into a ranked game with my boyfriend and the monitor died in the middle of our match. I saw the flickering at the top, then a black void rapidly consumed the entire screen starting from the corners and moving towards the center until I couldn't see anything. I got disconnected and banned from matchmaking for this ._.

If I unplugged it and plugged it back in, the flickering persisted for a bit before going away.

At this point I'm certain either the monitor itself or the PSU it came with is defective because nothing else in my room is malfunctioning like this. I think it's a broken capacitor somewhere, since the unplugging to fix it seems like capacitor behavior? I can't find anyone else with this problem either. I can't ask Amazon for a refund because the purchase was last December.

Before you ask, yes, my GPU is fine, yes, my cables are fine, yes I tested everything.

If it happens again I'll try to take a picture. Please help and thanks in advance
