[SOLVED] School me about Thunderbolt.

First of all, I apologize if I put this thread in the wrong section, but really didn't find a proper section for this.
So, I've prepared a couple of questions:

• What is thunderbolt? Is it some sort of a power adapter/converter like USB for example or something like that?
• What would a person use this for?
• Is it a requirement nowadays? (like we all need USB ports for example)
• Why do only (or should I say mainly) high-end motherboards have it?
• What are difference's in version's of it? I know there is like Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 came out recently if I'm not mistaken.
