So, I've recently bought an MXL TEMPO KR microphone, and I wasnt so sure on what arm stand and shockmount to get. I'm not quite sure on what specifications you would look for.. could someone help me out?

Solution
you do not mention if you have the mic only or already have a shock mount for the mic.

if you do not have a shock mount and want one: the most important thing is mic diameter. most fit a range of sizes and that mic likely fits one of the various cheap models which comes on budget boom arms.

if you do not want a shock mount (and want to thread onto the mic direct) or if you already have a shock mount: the most important thing is the thread used. generally there are only 2 threads used on microphones and accessories so its either one or the other. if you buy the wrong one there are cheap adapters you can always get.

Okay I'll look for the diameter and the threads then, thanks!

Uh quick question, if the microphone diameter is 47mm and the shock mount supports 47mm, would I want it to be a tad bit tighter and instead get a one that supports up to 46mm or just stick with 47mm?

many fit a variety of sizes and are adjustable to some degree. heres an example of one that is for 44-47mm http://g01.a.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1eQdnKFXXXXbIXXXXq6xXFXXXw/-SM-4S-Universal-Microphone-Shock-Mount-for-Large-Diameter-Condenser-Microphone-44mm-to-47mm-for.jpg

depending on how accurate the measurements are its a toss up honestly. if the mic is a bit sloppy you could always shim it with some paper or tape which you would never see. i'd rather not go smaller in case it doesnt fit but thats your call as who knows if the measurements given are correct and how much play room you have to work with (such as if its foam lined that foam will squish a bit)
