So last I used a screen cleaner of any kind on my precious LCD/LED screens it pretty much raped all smooth coating and made it grey and left streaks. It was awful. After that experience I always "fogged" the screen with my breath to do it which has helped til recently. The screen is just too dirty.

What screen cleaner should I get that is so amazing it makes the TV look better, not worse, than the day you bought it?

Solution
Safest way is to just use a damp (water only) micro-cloth to clean the screen off; then a dry micro-cloth to finish the job.
I've always had success with a clean microfiber cloth dampened with an extremely mild wash of dish detergent. Then wipe dry with another microfiber that is dry. Make sure it's unplugged of course. I've used this method on HDTVs and LCD monitors that both were glossy and had a matte anti-glare panel (of which the latter is harder to clean due to the microscopic pitting to create the anti-glare).

this worked perfectly just as you instructed
