Question Screen cuts to black when installing motherboard drivers through Asus Q Installer

Just installed the following items into an existing machine.

ASUS Prime Z390-A Motherboard LGA1151
CORSAIR Vengeance PRO 2x8GB 3.2 gHz
Intel Core i5 8600k

I installed Windows 10 fresh, not maintaining any old settings or data.

When I boot Windows, ASUS starts up its Q installer to install the motherboard utilities and drivers. About 5 - 10% of the way through, the screen cuts to black and never comes back until I shut down the computer and reinstall windows again. To be clear, the screen is receiving signal, and is in an active state, but with no image.

I tried disabling Q installer and installing the drivers via the driver cd that the motherboard comes with instead. Same exact problem.

did you use the latest windows 10 iso to install fresh?
Go to the asus support site and download the latest driver.

Yes, I used the most recent windows 10 iso to install fresh. I cannot install the driver for the network adapter since the screen cuts to black.

I will definitely try this. I cannot believe that the onboard driver installation process would cause a complete unrecoverable crash of windows.
