Hello Internet,
I am playing Ark: Survival evolved on my new(ish) standard model 5K iMac and it has worked perfectly (with exclusion of minor bugs which would be expected from a newly released game) for several months, however I have recently been having trouble.
Whenever the game loads up everything looks fine - the sound is playing the animation in the background is playing, even hovering over menu items is fine. However if I click on any part of the window (excluding the window frame at the top with the 'close', 'minimise' and 'maximise' buttons) the entire monitor flashes white. I've set it to windowed mode, so that it opens as a small window in the centre of the screen, but even then the entire monitor - not just the window - flashes pure white.
Worse than that is when I'm playing the game, the entire monitor remains white - if I press escape, the pause menu opens and I can see the game through the transparent menu overlay.
Clicking anywhere here still causes the same effect.
When returning to the game the screen then returns to white.
After several attempts I have noticed that the screen (very, very briefly) flashes white while the programme is loading too, but only when the click-flashing problem occurs.
It's downloaded through steam and when it first started I would put the computer to sleep and wake it again, or restart steam and the problem would be gone, but now it's not going away.
I've tried a few solutions, such as checking the game cache integrity and reducing resolution and other graphics settings and I've even removed all of my steam workshop subscriptions for Ark, but the problem still persists, but now it's every time I open it.
This problem has only ever started with the programme and not half way through a game.
I'm a noob with iMacs so please bear with me.
I do have a PC too, which I would much prefer to use, but my younger brother uses it for 'homework'.
Many thanks for reading that block and ANY suggestions,
Lucas
