I've upgraded my pc to directcu II r9 270x card and changed mobo and cpu too. I noticed that sometimes when browsing with opera or watching a movie in GoM player randomly occurs something like flickering, actually the screen goes a bit down and then return to its original point very fast. Seems like flickering but actually screen moves down and then up (return to original position). I am currently using AMD Catalyst™ 13.11 Beta9.4 for Windows® driver.

additional specs : 8 Gb ddr3, psu TX650 corsair, gigabyte z87-d3hp, monitor LG 23EA63

Reinstalling windows 8.1 didn't help
Changing Hdmi cable didn't help
Changing Monitor didn't help

Troubleshooting Options

1. Ensure all your cables are in snug, wiggle your cables to recreate the flickering near the GPU and monitor side. If you have spare cables laying out, test those out with your GPU and monitor.

2. If all is okay, reseat the GPU and test.

3. Try connecting to your integrated GPU and test.

4. If you have a spare monitor or GPU, test with those as well to rule out the monitor and a bad PCI slot.

Let us know what happens!

Hope this helps!

To give more info I copy paste what I sent to amd ticket.

I got 2 issues since I upgraded my motherboard and the video card. I upgraded to Asus r9 270x and using the AMD Catalyst™ 13.11 Beta9.4 for Windows®
driver.

First issue is some random screen flicker (which I didn't have back in my 6950). Screen randomly shakes or flickers down and up (going slightly down then returning to original position). That happens only when I watch some video with GoM or browsing with opera and watching a youtube video or when the site has flash advertisements.

The second issue is that randomly when launching a game from steam I get very low fps, arround 10-15 and all of my games lag. Then if I restart the pc everything returns to fine.

Screen flickering are likely to be hardware issues.. we aren't sure what your issues are which is why we give you troubleshooting steps to rule them out. Any professional would say to check your cables and if you have other equipment to test on to eliminate some possibilities.

Cables are fine, they are the very same I was using with 6950. I can't say it's flicker exactly. Imagine the botom bar of windows moving slightly lower then returning to original position. That happens randomly like every 5-10 minutes and one time.

And you never substituted the cable for another to see if its a cabling issue, its screaming connectivity issue.. i am sorry but it is.

Please test another cable, they aren't expensive and since you used it with the other cable, lets just say the cable is aged and you need a new one. Consider it and we can move on to your low FPS issue which you need to go to the Processes in taskmgr.exe (Start->Run) and see what other processes are running while you game..

That is when we get to virus scans, malware scans, eliminating programs that are running silently in the BG.

Let us know!

changed cable with another I had to PS3... same thing... as for the other issue it's a clean install of windows no chance of viruses.

PS. it's hdmi

Think of it that way : The rectangle that the screen is viewing is jumping down and then up to return to original position. That happens very fast and randomly.

Looking at the video you provided, its hard to see the distortion... I do see it faintly, however, the best test is to test your GPU on another PC to ensure your GPU works 100%. The BETA drivers doesnt necessarily help either but just try your GPU on someone elses PC since it isnt a monitor or cable issue. The GPU is the ultimate test for disfunctionality.

Good luck!!

The solution is download the new drivers and the new vBios of your GPU, if you use Asus like me they gave out a new vBios for DC2T and it fixed the prob for me along with the new driver

I have the XFX 7870 Ghz Edition, what is vBios exactly?

pls update on the flashing of bios. how do you do it?

THIS APPLIES TO AMD GPUS ONLY:

Search for ATIWINFLASH and download the latest version [2.6.x] not sure though :? ,

Goto
http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?architecture=AMD&manufacturer=&model=R9+270X&interface=&memType=&memSize=

[The above applies to a R9 270X not the non x variant]

select your vendor[Sapphire,ASUS...] from the drop down list

download the latest bios version

Place it in a folder along with the ATIWINFLASH tool

-Open the ATIWINFLASH
-BACKUP YOUR CURRENT BIOS[Somewhere safe]
-click on load and locate the latest bios u've downloaded
-Click Program[Run as Admin]
the program may freeze for a short while bam u r done

-Reboot Profit 😀
