Screen Flickers Before Windows Crashes

My PC display has started randomly flickering on and off and then will lock up with a black screen with the cursor stuck in the middle. The only way to fix it is to kill power to it and reboot. I've tried updating my GPU drivers and reseating it.
My specs are:
CPU- FX-8350
Mobo-MSI 970 Gaming
GPU- Radeon R9 280
16GB RAM
PSU- EVGA 600w
SSD-Kingston 90GB
SSHD-Seagate 2TB
Other than the SSHD all these parts are a little over a year old.

could you borrow a gpu from a friend for test i suspect your gpu is going out .

I would, but it's too random to really keep one for an extended period of time to see if it still happens. It happened once a couple of days ago and twice today.

I've run the render test for almost 10 minutes now and have had no problems

I ran the test, but I have no idea what I'm looking for in the results or during the test.

use the power supply part do a 10 min test and press monitoring and see if you voltages from psu fluctuate or stay in range under test .

Other than one thing the voltages stayed mostly the same throughout the test.
