Screen Flickers

Sometimes when I open certain programs (hwmonitor, sticky notes, etc.) the screen suddenly flickers black. It doesn't happen too often but if it does, I'm forced to either restart the machine or switch users. (I mostly use my standard account).

Any ideas what's wrong?

EDIT: I forgot to add, video drivers that I installed is the one that came with my video card. I had display problems with the latest version.

Just to make sure this happens on Windows 7 right? What's your video card? And what sort of display problems occur when you try using the latest driver? You could try uninstalling your drivers, using driver cleaner to make sure they're really gone, then reinstall.

My video card is an 8500GT using drivers that came with my video card. (don't know the version but is dated 1/3/2008) With the latest drivers, desktop is so offset to the left that the startmenu is only shown in half. I didn't tried the latest driver that long to see if the problem persists.

I didn't tried driver sweeper, guess i'll try that. Have a question though. How can I install the old drivers? Upon logon windows automatically installs the WHQL drivers for my vid card, either in normal or safe mode...
