Question Screen gets distorted (vertical lines) when playing a video

I bought an Asus x509ja laptop, Windows 10 is up to date together with the graphic drivers. And when I run VLC player, when it is opened as an active window (or set "always on top", meaning it is there on the screen) the rest of the screen (everything except the the actual video media picture) is distorted, as if white vertical lines are across all texts/image illustrations on the screen). When I minimize the VLC window, the screen is normal, and when I pop it up again the screen goes bad again.

Note: there's no distortion on the screenshot of the distorted screen.

I restarted the laptop and it's okay for now, but I don't want this to recur (I want to know why it has happened).

GPU is Intel UHD Graphics.

Any ideas?
