I have an HP 2509m monitor and earlier today in the middle of me using it the screen went black like it shut down. The power button was still blue like it was powered on and in use, but it wasn't showing anything. I turned the power off and back on and the screen came back for a about 1-2 seconds, and then just went black again. When the picture does come up it looks absolutely normal, but then it just goes back to black. I've switched from HDMI to DVI, tried different power chords, and my secondary monitor is still working. I've tried the monitor calibration in windows to no avail. Is there any solution to this problem or is my monitor done?

Solution
Have you tried the monitor on a different computer to make sure, that it's the monitor? A behavior like this with a HP monitor of mine normally means, that the monitor is not receiving a signal.

If your monitor would be running for a little bit longer then you would be able to activate a energy saving mode (at least thats the situation with mine). If I activate the energy saving mode then I receive a message after about 2 or 3 seconds showing something like "no signal, switching to standby ...". After a few seconds of showing this message my screen turns to stand by.

If I don't activate the energy saving mode, then the screen shows black instead of the message and does not switch to stand by (if I remember correctly).
