While I am playing the game occasionally the screen goes black but I can
hear the game continuing in the background. Does anyone have any
suggestions for me on what it might be?

I am running an
Athlon 64 - 2800+
9800 Pro video card
Windows XP
1 gig of pc 3200 memory

As you can well imagine it is a major pain in the ass to lose the game that
way. If I fit Esc. I can hear it open up that screen then I move the mouse
to the upper right corner and click where I think quit is, and the game will
quit and bring me to the desktop and up pops my screen and I can see
everything again.

Please any help would be a apprectiated.

Thanks chad

Drivers are always the first point of call...but, After how long
playing does this happen, could be your Gcard is getting too hot,
check ventilation is ok in case. (check fan is spinning on G-card
cooler)

You should also check that the fan on the Gcard and the fan on the cpu fan
is NOT full of dust.

There is a known bug with ATI drivers that after long periods of play in Win
XP, some users will experience graphical glitches.

It's a driver issue mate, try messing with some Omega drivers.

Hmmm, you need to do a little more than update if you wantt your new drivers
to funstion properly.

Firstly, you need the ati uninstaller. This can be found at
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/cat-uninstaller.exe Only download this for now,
wait until you have your drivers downloaded.

Secondly, drivers, which, Omega or Ati. Personally, i find ATI's to be okay.
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/5-7_xp-2k_dd_cp_wdm_24085.exe

or

Some people prefer Omega
http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=Files&go=cat&dwn_cat_id=14&go=giveme&dwn_
id=66

THEN, uninstall the existing drivers with the uninstaller. You will be asked
to reboot. After reboot, install one of the choosen drivers.
