On Thursday morning my computer worked just fine. Played games, did surfing, just the usual stuff I do. Turned the PC off as always, then, in the afternoon when i wanted to talk to someone over Skype, I had no screen until it reached win but it was set to 640x480 resolution. I could not change it. It's fixed to this low resolution.

I have installed the drivers of my GPU but this did not resolve my issue either. In the end i had no screen what so ever and my PC kept turning it self on and off all the time until I turned it manually off.
So I brought it to the shop for them to check it out. Today they have told me that everything works fine. They had no problem starting it up, and the resolution was at its normal 1920x1080. Everything worked fine.

After work I went there my self and yes, it started up normally with displaying my motherboard and the usual process when starting up. to proof it even more, they have turned off again and on and suddenly there was no screen again. so they have fiddled around with the RAM (which i have done the day before too but no success) and the screen was back again.
tried it several times and no problems what so ever. So they thought it must be the old RAM stick and they have build in new once. Tried it again, no problems. 1920x1080 resolution, normal start up process.

So I took it home, and what do I see when i turned it back on again.... no normal startup, and again fixed 640x480 resolution. Can not change it, what so ever. No screen what so ever so I can not even enter the BIOS It's like it can not not register my monitor. When I am in Win and try to change the resolution, it does not even show my monitor.

I really do not know what the hell is wrong here. I have upgraded my PC 3 months ago at the same shop who previously fixed serious issues I could not resolve my self.

my specs:
Motherboard - AsRock Z97 fatality killer
RAM - Kingston 4x4 GB RAM
GPU- ASUS R9 290x
Monitor - Samsung S22C300 22" (this one is 2 years old)
OS - Win 7 Home Edition 64bit

I am really at a loss here what could be wrong.

oh yes, i knew i forgot something.
My monitor is connected with HDMI cable that is also a year old. I have done that as well but to no avail. Even the shop tried a different HDMI cable to make it is not it but no change.

EDIT:
I tried to start up my pc again but this time no screen what so ever and my GPU's fans are running at full speed.

The PSU is strong enough. The shop made sure of it as well when I did the upgrade.
also, I have installed the drivers and still no change. And now I have no screen what so ever. I will give it a rest now and see if tomorrow it will work.

Thanks so far your fast reply.

well, still no change what so ever. still no screen at all. Doesn't matter how many times I restart my rig. PC is running but no screen. It looks like the monitor does not even recognize that the PC is running.
and no, i have no spare monitor or know anyone else who can lend me one quick to try out.

ok, have unscrewed my GPU and plugged my monitor in to the MB. no screen what so ever. i slowly think that my monitor might be busted. which would be weird since its just 2 years old. would be really weird that i have no screen through my MB and GPU. wile the shop had no issues what so ever.

Capacitors can be failing already at 6 months. Recently a certain unnamed company had alot of monitors prone to capacitor failures and settled with a 300 dollar compensation for a certain series of monitors bought. That company openly admitted they had been using cheap capacitors that weren´t expected to last more than a couple of years.

i see. i will try it out on a dvd/blueray player and see if its my monitor. was busy with work this weekend so i had no chance to test it. but interesting to know about the capacitors. that could explain why suddenly i had no pic or even fixed 640 resolution.
i should also make it clear is when i turn on the monitor, it is trying to find a connection. but in the end it tells me i should check if the monitor is plugged in.

well the resolution shouldnt change because of bad capacitors, so just check your monitor in a different pc first. It could also be a faulthy videocard.

the problem is, i dont have another pc to try it out on and i dont know anyone else either. i guess today i will not have the chance but tomorrow i could try it on a simple player and see if i have a picture there. then i know that it is my GPU i fi get a pic on my monitor.
but still funny though that the shop had no problem with their monitor, wile mine isnt even showing up anything at all now. but then i ask my self why the MB had no screen either. guess i have to bring it back to the shop. at least i still have warranty on these parts, even the GPU.

just tried my monitor on a blueray player and no screen what so ever. to make sure it isnt the cable, i connected it from the player to the tv and i had screen. so the cable can be cut out from being the problem.
guess i have to get a new monitor but it still doesnt explain why i had fixed 640 resolution wile the shop didnt had it at all. also why my computer acted up by turning it self on and off. unless the ram i had were really old and therefore faulty for causing me this issue. since the shop build in new once, the pc did start up so far only i had no screen.

ok, in case others have this issue as well and in case some still care about my issue; the problem was my monitor.
i took the old one to the shop and they have tested it. low resolution worked fine but as soon he went over 640, then the monitor turned off, claiming that it cant find a connection.
so i was obviously forced to get a new monitor and now things are working just fine. for now.

thanks again for your help guys. learned something and thanks to you, i discovered that my monitor could be faulty. so again, thanks :)
