Screen or processor?

Hey guys,

I don't know what to buy: bigger screen or better processor..

The laptops are:

1) lenovo g580 with 15,5" and an i7 processor
2) lenovo g780 with 17,3" but an i5 processor

all tips are welcome 😉

What are you going to be doing with this laptop.

In my opinion, 15,5" and the i7, the extra inches could be not worth it, especially for a laptop, the i7 it could make a difference, depending on the usage, if it's at the same price, i rather get the i7.
If the i5+larger screen is cheaper, it might be more valid.

I made a new account because i couldn't log in for qome reason..

But euhm i want to use it as home laptop, for watching movies and stuff..

Yes they are the same price

For just everyday work and watching movies the I5 with the bigger screen will be fine. You don't really need the power of the I7 for what you are doing.

What is the max resolution of both.

Yes, tell the resolution of both screens and what's the two cpus in question, model of the i5 and i7.
But in long term, the i7 at the same price might be more useful.
The graphics of the i7 i know for sure it's the intel hd 4000, the i5 might have a lower on die gpu.
If you take that in consideration, the i7 might be a better choice.

The resolution suits both screens, what's the model of the i5?
The i7 is a better cpu and has the intel hd 4000, some mobile i5 have a lower gpu.

If they are pretty much the same price as you said than I would go with the I7 laptop. The I7 is a little more powerful and has a better resolution.

That's is why it's needed the models of the cpus in question, if it's that i7, go with the i5, if the i5 is this one : http://ark.intel.com/products/67355/Intel-Core-i5-3210M-Processor-3M-Cache-up-to-3_10-GHz-rPGA

Edit : Bingo, that's the one, get the i5 if it's the i5-3210M.

Far more noticeable than the performance gain of hyper-threading.

They got the same graphics(intel hd 4000), the same cores and threads.
So you're better off with the i5, since you got a bigger screen/resolution.
If it was a quad i7 mobile, things would have changed, but since it's a dual core, no point in going with that i7.

Yes that is why I bought up resolution. Now that we know the exact model of CPU's I would go with the I5.

As said both are dual core but really there isn't going to be a huge difference in performance. For what you are doing the dual core I5m will be fine and it has a higher resolution which will be better for games and movies.
