My computer has some weird resolution problems. About a week ago my VGA adapter broke and I needed to replace it with a new one. (My monitor is from 2009) With this new adapter I turned on my computer and my resolution is stuck at 1280x720. I used the NVIDIA control panel to make my resolution 1920x1080 and it worked, although when I start up a game it automatically goes to 1280x720 and it can't go any higher. I tried looking at my screen resolution in the control panel and it says 1024x768 is recommended!?!?! Also, when I look in the NVIDIA "change resolution" it seperates the 1920x1080 and the other resolutions so that 1920x1080 is categorized as hd/sd and the 1280x720, 1024x768 etc are categorized as PC and not hd/sd. It also says my native is 1024x768 now. Before the old adapter broke I could play games at 1920x1080 and had no problems.

I have an Alienware X51.

Windows 7 64bit
Intelcore i7 3770 CPU @3.4 ghz (quadcore with hyper threading)
8gb of RAM

Thanks for helping
