Question screen resolution outside of screen

So i use a HP w19b with my gaming pc (yes my monitor is bad and im trying to get a new one) and decided to switch to stretched resolution so from native (1400x900) to (1080x1080) and it worked for a bit then the screen shifted to the bottom right and there is a big black bar on the left side and top any ideas how to make the resolution fit my screen again

I assume you changed the resolution inside of Windows?
Did you change it using Windows display settings or using graphics control panel like nvidia control panel?

when i use a custom resolution on nvidia control panel it doesnt change the resolution just goes black then comes back nothing happens

Just to be painfully clear, I wasn't giving you instructions. I was asking you questions, hence the question marks at the ends.

What did you mess with in order to mess up your resolution?

Because if I don't know what method you used to change the resolution, then I don't know where to start troubleshooting.

sry for coming back so late but i found out if i go to advanced settings on display i can go to modes and change it to my res
