Screen resolution windows 7

Hello,
just got new hp laptop having a hard time seeing the screen outside in the daylight ... did not have this prob on the old one ...is their a setting i should use

It probably has to do with the screen itself. Matt LCD's are mostly readable even in sunlight, while gloss ones reflect so much light that you can't see anything. Is that your problem?

as already stated a it of it depends on the screen, but there should be a brightness adjustment that should help

should be a FN key and one of the number keys usually labeled with little blue pics
