While playing i get bad screen tears and gets worse when indoors.
Yes, v-sync does fix this but the fps i lose is just not worth it.
so i tried using rivatuner to cap it but stills screen tears for some reason.

Is there a way to stop the screen tears without v-sync or without the fps drop?

^ pretty much - as I added above ,disable vysnc in the game settings - it has issues with amd cards, enable it using the radeonpro utility

What are you talking about you lose fps with vsync? Vsync has pretty much zero performance impact in terms of fps it just matches your framerate to your monitor or tv's refresh rate. GTA v tears BAD without vsync i had to use it on my 60hz panel there was no way around it.

What i mean by is is for example: im running at 55 then if i look backwards fore a slit second the fps goes to 40( that's with v-sync) now without it would be like 55 to 50.

Hmm i dont have that issue. You can try to force adaptive vsync in the nvidia control panel this will turn vsync on when you hit 60fps but then turn it off should the framerate go below 60fps. (if you have an nvidia card i think amd has something like this too but im not sure what its called)

Well idk then. This is a longshot but simple to test, i play gta v with sweetfx installed and whenever i would launch gta v with vsync on my framerates would be terrible and sometimes drop from 60 and lock at 30, all i had to do to resolve this was turn vsync off then back on again and framerates would return to normal i though it was just some weird glitch due to sweetfx being installed but who knows.

So anyways, i would launch gta v with the in game vsync on play for a second, then turn it off play for a second, then turn it back on and see if the frame rates improve. I doubt they will because im pretty sure this was due to sweetfx but its worth a try if you haven't done it already.

no you dont mate:bounce:

http://www.radeonpro.info/features/dynamic-vsync-control/

use this to enable vsync ,then disable vsync in the graphics in game menu

Well sorry i couldn't be of more help. Personally i would take the performance impact, i would rather play at 30fps than see screen tearing it bothers the hell out of me.

There you go try that. Its the same as adaptive vsync or at least it sounds like it from that description.
