Screen Tearing After Windows 7 Installation

so i've recently been getting some rough screen tearing after the windows 7 installation. quiet interesting because when i had windows 8.1 and windows 10 installed there was no screen tearing. all of my display drivers (intel hd graphics and nvidia) are up to date, though i'm not sure if it all depends on display drivers in order to not get screen tearing or at least less because i'm starting to think some of my drivers are missing/need an update. any help?

cpu/gpu specs:

Intel® HD Graphics 4600
Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M

List all of your hardware
...but yes it does depend on the drivers...and you might try loading an older version of the driver.
You might try changing the screen resolution or refresh rate.
You might have better luck with the windows display driver instead of the other...
