Screen Tearing and Vsync

Hello everyone, I have a problem. I bought a new lap top and I have some screen tearing issues with some games, so I enable v sync, and when I do this the screen tearing is gone, but than I have another problem: the game lags.
My frame rate keeps jumping from 59 to 60 than to 61 than back to 60, and this happens very fast, and it's constant. I tried using triple buffering and it didn't work. This happens to me in Skyrim and Tomb Raider, but for some reason on Alice madness returns it runs fine without stuttering.

Without Vsync I can have relatively high FPS like 70-80+ on modest settings but like I said, I get screen tearing. I also tried enabling triple buffering and vsync within the game, through nvidia control panel and with D3DOverrider. I also have the latest nvidia drivers.

My specs are:

Processor- i7363QM
CPU- 2.40ghz
Monitor 60Mhz
8 GB Ram
GT 650M 2GB Ram + integrated Intel 4000

I know exactly what you mean. I get it in Portal 2 with V-sync on and triple buffering. Input lag. Computing power is not that problem at all. I've not been able to found out why it does it so its either ridiculous frame rates with tearing or input lag. 🙁

For the adaptive V-Sync you have to go into nVidia Control panel and under the 'Manage 3D settings' tab create a new rule for the game you want. Then go down to the bottom and select Vertical sync - adaptive.

Correct, vsync will prevent your fps from going higher than 60 but you can still dip below 60. If you see it go up to 61 that's fine it can't be on the ball all the time and some fps recording programs will round up which might pop up an extra frame. Nothing to worry about as long as your game is running smooth and your enjoying it.

Hello everyone, thanks for answering my post.
Vsync is working but in Skyrim for example, in certain areas there is noticable stutter because the frame keeps jumping down to 59, than going back to 60 than to 61, and it's not every two seconds, it's constantly, until I walk away from the area, or move the camera and look to something else. The lag is there, it's not fps lag becasue the frames are high and they're not dipping to 30 or 40 frames or something like that, but when I move the camera it feels like it is running at 30 frames or something.

I installed Nvidia inspector and set the frame limiter to 58 fps, and I opened Tomb Raider and the game was a bit better. The lag I had when I moved the camera is gone (despite of also having frame jumps like I had in skyrim), and the constant frame jumps are also gone. Maybe it was input lag or wierd mouse acceleration or something like that, but I know that it fixed in Tomb Raider, but I still have the same problem in Skyrim.

I looked for the adapatative option in the nvidia control painel and unfortunately I don't have that option there.

The problem is still there, but it doesn't happen as much, just in certain areas.
Thanks again for answering my post.
