Hello all,

I'm noticing some odd screen tearing while watching Youtube videos. I have a Geforce 780 Ti gpu. I have no tearing in any games that I play. It only happens when watching Youtube videos.

Does anyone know a fix for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
The newest 359.xx Nvidia drivers require Windows 7 to be running Aero mode. Otherwise in pretty much every browser / game you have now, you will see some kind of screen tearing / stuttering . Not exactly sure why this is the case, but have been told, this is a very old issue that was never fixed back when Vista was first coming out. If your running Windows 10, this does not effect you since your not running Aero and the requirement in the drivers doesn't exist for that operating system. However if you look hard enough, the Aero scheme in all versions of 10 is still there, you just got to look for it. 😛
Could be a Flash issue, could be a browser issue, could be a weird issue in Windows or even with your GPU. Are you sure it is tearing though? Another user said the same thing a while back but after providing an image sample of the problem I was able to determine that it was something else.

I don't know if it would work or not, just give it a try.
Put your mouse pointer on to the video your watching, then right click on it, click settings, then click display, then un-check Enable hardware Acceleration, then click close.
Now on your browser click refresh or reload depending on the browser you use. The video will now restart without blurring. The problem is some of today's computers have too much power to run flash player videos. After watching your videos you can re-enable hardware acceleration the same way if you want to.

I know this is a old thread but since i have had the same issue(and exact same GPU) i found a solution.
youtube plays videos at 30hz so if you are using a 60hz or 120hz monitor there will be some tearing on videos.
what i did to fix this is go into the nvidia control panel and set the vertical sync option(just for your browser in the control panels program settings do not set it globally or all programs will be effected) to adaptive at half refresh rate.
This solved my tearing issues completely on youtube.

Haha, this thread has been dead for exactly a year my friend, it's been cold for far too long I think.

Try going into your browser settings and turning on Hardware Acceleration!!!

%100 correct! I have been trying everything... I turned back my performance settings to "BEST APPEARANCE" compared to "BEST PERFORMANCE" ....and it worked. I have an ASUS 144hz gaming monitor and all my you tube videos screen teared TONS. But thanks to this tip ...it works great lol THANKS!!

I had this problem for a year and a half. I had it looked at with a local repair shop and changed hardware. Last night I was farting around in google chrome and found the hardware acceleration option and unchecked it. Problem fixed and things look better than ever.

Start button -> Right click computer and properties -> Click advanced settings -> Under advanced tab, click performance -> Click adjust for best appearance and click apply then ok. You're good to go!
