A few days ago my PC turned off by itself randomly while gaming and wouldn’t turn back on.
I removed the side panel and pushed the power button again to see what was going on. The PC wouldn’t turn on but the fans inside would spin for a faction of a second.
I took my PC into a PC repair store and they told me a couple days later that my power supply is bad and it fried my GPU. They said my power supply fried their test GPU as well when they were diagnosing the problem.
They offered to sell me a new power supply and GPU for $400 but I couldn’t afford to pay that much at the spot.
I took my PC home and I turned the PC on. To my surprise this time it stayed on.
The repair dudes at the shop wiped my hard drive as part of the diagnostic I guess, so I installed Windows 7 with a cd on the pc no problem at all.I installed motherboard drivers and the pc restarted 5 or 6 times with no issue.
Then I installed my Nvidia drivers and after the download completed the PC reset.
Since then, when I start my PC, Windows boots to the part where you have to enter your user password. Right after typing my password in though my PC screen turns black with no curser and I’m stuck here.
What can I do to fix this? Is my power supply and gpu bad like the repair guys said?
