Screenshot In Game Shows Past Image

I often take screenshots using the print screen key next to scroll lock in game for bug report purposes. For some reason, when I press print screen, I get what was on the screen 30 seconds or so IN THE PAST. It's highly bizarre - it's one thing if it was forward in time as that would be a delay. Just in case, I checked to see if it may have had something to do with the Delay set in Snipping Tool, but there's no delay set there in case it somehow overrode the print screen capture.

It's as if the Snipping Tool went back in time to press print screen sooner than I actually did it. Or more pragmatically, it's as if Windows takes internal image shots constantly and pulls up an image from X seconds prior to when you hit print screen. Does anyone know why there's a delay when using the print screen key?

Thanks in advance!

I think I found the culprit... I noticed that what's seen on Twitch lags behind what appears on OBS Studio. That may be a delay on Twitch, but maybe it's due to a streaming lag on OBS Studio. That may be why my screen captures are lagging, even though I'm not using OBS Studio. There may be a universal setting in OBS Studio that causes that delay.

Are you positive that it's exactly 30 seconds? You said or so. Specifics help. I'd verify your suspicion a couple more times. Parts list?

Until you find a solution This can be a band-aid.

I think it could be 15-30 seconds in the past. I use GIMP 2 to edit the screenshots.

Here's my parts list:

Equipment: + CPU: Intel i7-3770K LGA1155 w/ Corsair Hydro H50 CPU Liquid Cooler
+ Mobo: MSI Z77A GD55
+ GPU: MSI GTX 1080 Ti Founder's Edition
+ PSU: Cougar 750 Watt PSU
+ RAM: Mushkin 16GB
+ Samsung DVD Drive SH-224BB
+ Samsung 128GB SSD MZ-7PC128B/WW R
+ Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5" SATA III Internal SSD MZ-76E500B/AM
+ Western Digital WD6400AAKS HDD
+ Case: Antec 902 Tower

That blows that suspicion out of the water. I was thinking the system could be getting bogged down. Not really likely with that list.

Nope, I never install GE and I don't have Steam installed.

Thanks - it seems like we had the same issue. Mine only applies while I'm within BF1 or BFV.

I tried the command prompt and it did its scan. It found some broken files and fixed them.

But, the screenshot issue persists.

Is win 10 on the 128gb ssd? How old is it?

From the way I read that old thread of mine, the problem could be the page file itself. He was getting images from 5 minutes before, not 30 seconds. I think the image it is saving is located on page file. especially if you playing games at time and most of your ram would be used for game + other background processes. Win 10 likely to save the screenshots on a drive instead.

if page file is on the 128gb ssd, try putting it on the 500gb one instead and see if it makes any difference - don't download anything, just showing a guide: https://winaero.com/blog/how-to-move-page-file-in-windows-10-to-another-disk/

try running HDTune on the ssd's and look on the health tab and allow it to run a smart scan on them. Just want to see green OK on each line

One thing doesn't change, how is PC somehow taking screenshots from the past? Makes me wonder what the PC does with the old data that was produced by the GPU and outputted to monitor. I would have thought it is flushed pretty quick. You and that other case makes me wonder.

So you checked shadowplay? Don't mean to repeat but until i know you have, I won't be sure. I might show this thread to others and see if anyone has any smart ideas

Yes, there's no shadowplay on. There was no page file and I just added it so that the system manages it. I'll have to see if that works.
