Just looking to order a phillips magnetized screwdriver for my first build, will the #1 or #2 size work? I've heard people say both things now, not sure which one.

Thanks for any help!

I use a magnetic screwdriver, they are not that strong and if you don't do something dumb like rub it all on your hard drive you shouldn't have any problems. To build a computer you really need a screwdriver set or a multi bit screwdriver, those ratcheting ones are awesome.

get one of those small computer kits for abt $10-12 that has different screwdriver sizes and types, nut driver, tweezers, grabber, small parts container, etc. You'll have it forever and it will come in handy MANY times.

just run into Wal-Mart or a doller store or what ever sells tools and just get a driver ?? its not that hard to get one -- its not like you need a snap-on tool to just mount a motherboard screw

my sister picked me up a nice all in one driver set at dollar general with a flashlight in the handle for 5 bucks I use it often and works well [and that light is nice to shine down on what your working on ]

Hahaha, this guy. Perhaps you just missed the point that you somehow thought a magnetized screwdriver tip would be damaging in some way to the components of a computer. I can't even believe you think there is an argument to be made against the usefulness of a magnetized tip. Maybe you're just embarrassed? Of course a properly sized #0 , #1, #2 tip is important. That just boils down to the right tool for the job. Being aware (or in your case unaware) of someone's dexterity and mechanical prowess from behind your monitor isn't really possible now is it bad kid?

You don't need to bash him for his contribution mate, He doesnt use a magnetised screwdriver and is offering the op another option. No need to bash him just keep contributing to the thread.

Also you can magnetise lots of screwdrivers yourself with a strong magnet (One that will damage your computer components!). I use a magnet out of a dead hard drive.
