SCSI controller problem on P2BS

Hi:
I am looking at purchasing a Plextor CD/RW that is SCSI. I built my computer about 3 1/2 years ago using the P2BS and have never used a SCSI component before. When I boot up my system, I get the yellow warning flag for my SCSI controller. I don't know what to do. This is what I have on my system:

Asus P2BS
256 megs ram
Diamond Viper 550 AGP video card - AGP slot
LS-120
Soundblaster Live!
Creative DVD player

This is what is taking up all IRQS:
00 - System timer
01 - Keyboard
02 - Programmable interrupt controller
03 - Communication Port (COM2)
04 - Communications Port (COM1)
05 - Creative SB Live!
05 - Adeptec AHA-2940U2/AHA-290U2W PCI SCSI Controller
05 - Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
05 - IRQ Holder for PSI Steering
06 - Standard Floppy Disk Controller
07 - ECP Printer Port (LPT1)
08 - System CMOS/real time clock
09 - Creative SB Live! SB16 Emulation
10 - Creative PC-DVD Encore
10 - IRQ Holder for PCI Steering
11 - Diamond Viper V550 for Windows 98
11 - IRQ Holder for PCI Steering
12 - MouseMan 3 (PS/2)
13 - Numeric data processor
14 - Intel 82371/AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller
14 - Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)
15 - Intel 82371AB/EB PCI Bus Master IDE Controller
15 - Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo)

Before I switched to cable modem, my modem card would fight with my Creative SB Live! SB16 Emulation. I would have to "remove" this and refresh which would cause this to go to another IRQ. Now I just get the error on the SCSI controller. If I remove the controller and refresh, the controller stays in IRQ 5 but will not show the error message. Do you have any insight or ideas how I can add a SCSI CD/RW and not have to remove and refresh each time I boot? Please help. Thanks.

YOu can go into Safe mode, remove one com port (also from BIOS), and set the SCSI controller to that IRQ. You can also try setting PNP OS-NO in BIOS to have your cards configured there. SCSI controllers can be fussy with what they share an IRQ with, as can sound cards.

Suicide is painless...........
