Is SCSI RAID any different from IDE RAID? I'm only asking because I get a lot of people saying they need the exact same drive. I know that with IDE RAID that isn't necessarily true. You can have a different size but highly suggested having the same specifications.

Is there any truth to that, and is SCSI RAID the same?
Thanks a whole lot!

Similarities:
RAID 0 in IDE and RAID 0 in SCSI do the same thing.
RAID 1 in IDE and RAID 1 in SCSI do the same thing.
RAID 0+1 in IDE...you get the idea.

Differences:
IDE RAID has higher CPU usage, since the controllers aren't as good.
IDE RAID typically has fewer options (you have to get a top-end Promise card to get RAID 5).

That's about it, except for the obvious (IDE RAID uses IDE drives).

I figured as much, but the customers I deal with seem to come off differently making it seem like they will die if they don't have the same drive.

Thanks for the reply.
