I have an Adaptec AIC-7850 PCI SCSI card to which my Astra 610S scanner is connected. WinXPPro says it can see the card and there are no problems with it. The scanner, however, doesn't exist. I put in a new Mobo recently (Dell 7335 replacement) and everything else is fine. Suggestions? Is there a way to "ping" a SCSI card to make sure it is functioning and sending/recieving signals?

I know enuff to be dangerous.

does it detect anything at boot while the card is searching for devices? you might have bent a pin on the connector, make sure its terminated properly and the id number isnt the same as the cards.

I hadn't thought about the SCSI number. When I reconnected everything to my new MOBO, my Creative software decided on its own to mute the CD & DVD burners. Maybe the same thing happened here.
Refresh my memory, please, since it's been a long time since I had to change a SCSI number. How does one go about doing it?

on most scanners ive seen there is either jumpers near the connector or a odometer style readout thing that you scroll through till you get the number you want.
