SCSI to SATA adapter?

Hey guys, I've just gotten a very old custom build desktop from my dad which no longer works anymore, and I am wondering is there is anyway I can convert a SCSI HDD to a SATA or IDE interface? I've been looking around, but I just cannot find anything. I want to get all the data off them, but because they are SCSI (80 pin I think, never worked with SCSI before) I cannot use them unless I can find an adapter of some sort.

This has been annoying me for months now because the desktop has just been sitting in my loft for the past 2 years, and the time has come where I wanna do something about it. It does have this weird adapter with them, and some sort of PCI adapter but I just don't know how to use them. The desktop itself is busted. the PSU is blown and I fear the motherboard is the same.

I REALLY hope you guys can give me any type of suggestion to how I can get these HDDs up and running again just so I can get some data recovery on those bad boys.

Many thanks

yea no SCSI is a whole different protocol than SATA so yea finding any kind of adapter would be hard.

You need a SCSI controller (The adapter of some sort you are talking about) and connect it into a different PC. most likely it is a PCI adapter so got to make sure your PC has a PCI and not a PCIe slot. Then just toss it in and fire it up (running the OS for THAT PC and not booting off the SCSI Drive) some older adapters may not have 64 bit drivers if you are running 64 bit windows but some of the good ones people have hacked together drivers to make it work.

OOOOHHHH... Very nice. I did also post this onto LinusTechTips to double my chances of finding a answer. There is currently only 1 reply "your need an SCSI to SATA adapter, here's one I found : http://www.amazon.co.../ref=pd_cp_pc_0"

I am also going to take a couple of pics of the HDDs, the adapters and the PCI adapter, and edit my original post so you can see what they look like, but here is what the adapter looks like which are attached to the back of the SCSI drives: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BestDealUK-Ultra-SCSI-LVD-SE-Adapter/dp/B008HO62EY/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1426148766&sr=8-6

I currently cannot find a picture online on what my PCI adapter looks like though, but hopefully I can upload a pic of what it looks like once I get home. All I know is that it doesn't have a rear I/O.

Yea its a 68 pin SCSI cable. There difference between the 68 and 80 pin is the 80 pins are more for servers and have a Back Plane that drives slide into and they get power and data from one connector VS two seperate cables.

Try too look on the Adapter and see if you can find a part or chip make. Usually the biggest chip on there.

also your link for the SCSI to SATA is broken.

I've just had another look at the SCSI's... They're 80 pin... Here are the make and model numbers:
They're a Seagate Cheetah 15K.4 and a Seagate 10K.7.
Model number being ST373207LC for the 10K and ST3146854LC for the 15K

I'm sorry, but I cannot find a way to upload a picture of them, but I did to LinusTechTips, so here is the link for that: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/326508-scsi-to-sata/?p=4445771

They do have a adapter which goes to a 50 pin (I think) which then goes to a PCI adapter. Hope this helps
