I have my 8700K at 5ghz 1.344v and I am hitting 90s on realbench I want to bring the temps down and was considering getting the Scythe Fuma and adding a third fan being a 150mm NF-P14 fan for maximum performance or getting the Arctic Freezer 240mm.

The cooler I have now is the Scythe Mugen 5 revb which is only a few months old and a single tower cooler.

Will the Fuma be good enough or would the Arctic Freezer be a noticeable improvement? I have avoided water cooling so far due to hearing about leaks and pump failures. I have seen the Arctic Freezer has higher noise levels than the scythe and wanted to keep it cooler with a little noise as possible.

The Mugen 5 is a beefy cooler, you shall not gain a lot by investing into a Fuma or a 240mm AIO. 4-5°C top! Read these reviews at techpowerup and nikktech:

How is the airflow in your case? Is the heatsink pressure on your lid and the thermal paste al right? Do you have a mounting option for a 360 or 280 radiator?

I have 3 front fans intake on the case and a rear exhaust, I have room for 280mm radiator on the top of the case.

At 90c i would be happy with 7-10c drop I thought the Fuma would be better especially as it can have 3 fans? The other option is to buy 2x NF-P14 fans for the Mugen heatsink those being 140mm with better airflow would this help temps much?

Roughly what sort of temp gains would I see with the Alphacool Eisbaer LT360 & H110i that you linked

I would say heatsink pressure and Thermal paste is good I did get good low temps before overclocking to 5ghz at 4.7 on all cores I rarely broke 70c I have re-seated and checked paste and it seems contact is even and good. It seems the Mugen is good but not quite for 8700K at this voltage.

A little update

I bought the Noctua D-15 as I was told it was the best air cooling solution on the market - results temps are the same at idle and slightly lower at max temps but only by 2-4c and sometimes only within a 1-2c so I wouldn't recommend the D-15 when you consider it's high price compared the the Scythe & I wish I had tried the fuma now which is cheaper and might have yielded the same temps. Overall generally 2-3c average cooler now.

I think I have a hot chip being a 8700K that only gets to maximum of low 90s now when highly stressed and benched. It doesn't throttle at all but I am not comfortable with the high temps I might have to consider deliding but I have never done this before and don't feel confident tbh.
