I just received this in the mail today, and DAMN is it big! At 150mm in height, I'm glad I'm getting a big case like the CoolerMaster CMStacker 830.

That said, even if it almost touched the side of a case, this could actually help cooling, as more air would be forced to travel through it, and the fins are widely spaced to allow that. And there'd still be space below and above it for air to flow.

It's also surprisingly not very heavy. I'm very excited to see this in action!

I've got a Scythe HSF, can't remember the model but it too is huge, very tall, it's on my athlon2600 and runs very silently and has for over a year now, I think they make great products.

AU$69 for the heatsink and a scythe fan as well. Now I just need to get the rest of the computer to put it in 😛. I ordered it, two Arctic Cooling Arctic Fan 12s for my case, a pair of Sennheiser HD595s and an Icemat 2nd editon all at the same time, because the headphones were on special, and I wanted to get them cheap. But it's going to be cooling an overclocked Opteron 175

By the way, for any Australians out there, I thoroughly recommend www.pccasegear.com. I got nothing but excellent service from them, they were happy to change my order a couple of times when they made a mistake, and again when I changed my mind on something, the delivery was prompt, and the items were very well packaged, and in excellent condition when i got them. It's not often you feel like going to the effort of giving some positive feedback on a site, but these guys deserve it.

I use www.staticice.com for Australian sites, and www.pccasegear.com had the cheapest price for both cooling solutions I was considering.

My brother and I are at odds over my planned computer 😛. I'm building a big, powerful system in a CoolerMaster Stacker, and he favours small and quiet, like the Antec Sonata, so his opinions and tastes differ completely from mine.
